Renji Hospital was built in 1844 and was the first Western medicine hospital in Shanghai after its opening. The hospital is currently composed of four hospital districts in the east, west, north, south, and Shanghai Cancer Research Institute. It is a comprehensive tertiary first-class hospital with a complete range of disciplines, integrating medical treatment, teaching, and scientific research.

The Sixth People's Hospital affiliated with the School of Medicine of Shanghai Jiao Tong University was founded in 1904 and is a large-scale tertiary comprehensive hospital that has accumulated over a hundred years. In 2002, it became an affiliated hospital of Shanghai Jiao Tong University. In February 2021, the original East Hospital of Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital was officially merged into the Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital, marking a new journey of high-quality development for the integration of the two hospitals.

The predecessor of the Affiliated Children's Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine was the "Zhejiang Provincial Maternal and Child Health Hospital" established in 1951. The founder and first dean were Professor Li Jinhua, a renowned pediatric expert and founder of pediatric medicine in China. In May 2019, the hospital was officially approved by the National Clinical Medical Research Center for Children's Health and Disease and the National Children's Regional Medical Center as a national key specialized unit in pediatric science. The hospital undertakes the tasks of pediatric medicine, scientific research, teaching, child health, and emergency response to sudden public health events throughout the province.

The Ningbo Institute of Materials, Chinese Academy of Sciences has only been established for 19 years. Ningbo Institute of Materials of the Chinese Academy of Sciences was jointly established by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zhejiang Provincial People's Government and Ningbo Municipal People's Government on April 20, 2004. It is the first research institute directly under the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Zhejiang Province.

The Li Huili Hospital of Ningbo Medical Center was established in 1993, with a donation from patriotic overseas Chinese Mr. Li Huili and a supporting establishment by the municipal government. It is one of the first batch of tertiary and first-class comprehensive hospitals in Ningbo.

Ningbo Hangzhou Bay Hospital, also known as Renji Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Ningbo Hospital, and Hangzhou Bay Campus of Ningbo Second Hospital, is a comprehensive hospital built according to the third grade A standard. It is located in the Hangzhou Bay New Area of Ningbo, with a planned construction area of 196500 square meters, 1200 beds, and a project investment of approximately 1.45 billion yuan. It is the hospital with the highest single investment amount that has been built and put into use in Ningbo.

Pinghu Maternal and Child Health Hospital (Institute) was established in 1980. In December 2015, the Institute was integrated with the Municipal Family Planning Guidance Station. On December 8, 2017, the unit name was changed from Pinghu Maternal and Child Health Hospital to Pinghu Maternal and Child Health Hospital. Pinghu Maternal and Child Health Hospital is the city's maternal and child health and family planning technology guidance center. It is the first unit in Jiaxing City to be awarded the provincial demonstration of standardized maternal and child health work (outpatient) by the Provincial Health Department.

Ningbo Yinzhou People's Hospital is a tertiary Grade A comprehensive hospital that integrates medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, first aid, healthcare, prevention, and rehabilitation. It is located at 251 Baizhang East Road, Jiangdong District, Ningbo City, and is located in the central area of Ningbo.
